The February Journal
February, what an absolute TREAT you’ve been! Short, sweet and to the point. Adulthood tested me throughout (weevils in the pantry – SUCH a grown-up dilemma), but neatly balanced by my first classes at a new uni and making new friends (I’ve said “Hi I’m Kelsey. What’s your name?” enough times to put a grade schooler to shame). I’ve been so excitable by this never-ending honeymoon period of Melbourne life that I can follow on from The January Journal and say, I’m just so flippin’ happy.
In saying that, I’m not a buzz of energy all the time – the routine is starting to click into place I'm feeling busy, I'm feeling productive; both are things I've been seeking. This month has been spent working full-time, whilst juggling everything else in amongst it. I’ve been savouring up the time spent with friends (another contributor to the joy – I actually have friends here now!!), and in the last few days, I've been very willingly flung back into the world of study. It’s only week one, but this third crack at university feels positive and I think the study/life dynamic has the potential of seeing its way to the end this time around!
This month has also served as the chapter of my life where I can say that the bike-shaped hole in my heart has been filled! I commute to work, the gym, uni, the markets, the grocer, the café in the city, the bar in Fitzroy, ALL by sheer pedal power. How Amsterdam of me!! And oh so satisfying to be able to get from A to B with my gorgeously daggy men’s mountain bike (whom I love so deeply).
Can also announce that this month ended with one of the greatest joys of all. After two months of consecutive weekly trivia at the local pub, we FINALLY won the illuminated religious clock we’ve been playing for (yes, you read that right…Illuminated. Religious. Clock.) and all I can say is that the win felt better than I thought possible.
So that’s been my February! Like I said, short, sweet and to the point! Hopefully by the time the March Journal comes around I can inject a little more substance into these round-ups; but alas, I’m alive, I’m doing well, and all is good from my tiny corner of Melbourne.
Lots of love x
