En Route

Why hello there, dear reader! I’m reporting to you live from a shaky aeroplane crossing north over the equator! Where to, you ask? Well, the Caruana Five are heading up to Japan for a few weeks of festivities, freezing weather and futons. I’ve taken great pride in dusting off my backpack, meticulously and methodically packing it with snow gear and various fleece accessories and enough snacks for a three-year space mission. And TA-DA!! I’m sitting up in the air en route to country number 34.

Naturally, my brain’s been awash with nostalgia leading up to another overseas escapade. I’ve spent all week clearing out old camera SD cards full of photos from last year and I’ve been hit hard with that bittersweet feeling of gratefulness for the good times, fondness of the memories, but a twinge of melancholy knowing that a life of constant travel isn’t my reality right now. So, our Japan stint is filling the backpacking-sized hole in my heart, with more zest and excitement than ever as I have my four favourite people in tow. Oh, and not to mention the absolute treat of being able to ACTUALLY update you all in REAL TIME of where I am, what I’m doing, who I’m meeting, stuff I’m eating, how heavy my bag is, how annoying/wonderful it is to be travelling with people, how many rolls of sushi I eat, how many fingers I lose to the cold… I mean… It’s like you’re ALL with me!!

So, my final weeks of 2017 will be spent all in an effort for you, dear reader, to feed your wanderlust through my own.

Lots of Love,

K x
